Psychological evaluations allow for medical and psychological treatments to account for who a patient is as a whole person, rather than as just a condition. Whether you’re in need of pain relief, physiological advancement, or mental health stability, a psychological evaluation should be the starting point.
Due to an unfair stigma, patients assume that because they are receiving a psychological treatment, they are somehow inferior to people who are not working on improving their mental or overall health. The truth is, we have our strengths and we have our weaknesses. We have our good days and we have our bad days. If you are happy with your overall health and well-being, that’s amazing! However, you should also feel amazing about choosing to improve your mental (and/or physical) health through psychological treatments.
At Advantage Healthcare Systems, our team works to provide interdisciplinary approaches to chronic conditions and pain management for a complete experience. We believe in the power and influence of mental health on the entire body.
What to Expect
During a psychological evaluation, you will meet with one of our physicians to go over your personal and medical history. All of this information is entirely confidential unless you have consented to allow your physician to share this information with another medical specialist, family member, or employer. In addition to listening to your past and current symptoms, the physician will guide the evaluation and run tests to obtain particular cues and insights. Overall, the evaluation is a casual and stress-free experience that will be both structured and flexible as the physician sees fit. After this short conversation, your doctor will be able to put together a comprehensive and customized treatment plan.
Methods That May Be Used During and After Your Evaluation
Our team uses a combination of cognitive and physiological treatments/approaches to help diagnose and treat your overall state. From seeing how your body reacts to certain tests and treatments to providing assistive physiological and cognitive conditioning, our team can treat a number of conditions with the insights that can be gained through an extensive psychological evaluation. Methods we use at Advantage Healthcare Systems include:
- Individual and/or group counseling
- Visual imagery
- Cognitive conditioning therapy
Treating the Whole Patient
Toss out the notion that your mental and physical health are not connected. If you want to get the most out of your pain management treatments or all-around medical care, you need to take a holistic and complete approach. By ignoring how a patient’s mental health can affect his or her ability to handle and/or rehabilitate from an injury and the impact that chronic pain can have on a patient’s mental state, doctors leave out a significant factor in overall health and wellness. We pride ourselves on being an interdisciplinary practice. In our evaluation, we establish any and all possibilities for improving our patient’s condition. If this means designing a creative treatment plan, we will always take that extra step and go the extra mile to help our patients achieve a higher quality of life.
