From Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29, Advantage Healthcare Systems will offer testing for people who think they may have COVID-19 but have not shown symptoms or have recovered from mild symptoms. Our healthcare providers will be administering 500 antibody tests at our Waxahachie location. It is a simple test with results in 15 minutes.
Who can get tested?
- Patients with no symptoms can get the finger prick COVID-19 IgG and IgM antibody test with results in 15 minutes.
- Patients who test positive or have symptoms may also receive a PCR test.
What does the test cost?
- Patients with no symptoms: $49 to cover the cost of the test, supplies, and PPE. The cost of the antibody test is not covered by insurance or the government if there are no symptoms.
- Patients with symptoms: The PCR test is covered by insurance and the government (for the uninsured). The lab will bill the patient’s insurance, and there will be no cost to the patient.
How many tests are available?
We currently have 500 antibody blood tests available for each of our locations. We will continue to test more patients as more tests become available. Patients can schedule an appointment at the Waxahachie location by going to our website at www.advantagehcs.com.
Do I have to register online?
Yes. Because of the limited supply of kits, online booking is the only way we are taking appointments at this time. If you want to check availability, please CLICK HERE and go to registration to see the available days and times.
When and where is the Drive-Thru Testing?
The testing site will open up at 9 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m. We ask that you stay in your car the entire time and call the number on the reservation when you arrive.
How will I get the test results?
Once your sample is taken, we ask that you go ahead and leave the parking lot for safety. We will either text or email your results to you, usually within 20 minutes.
Testing is on a limited basis! Contact us to Reserve your test today!
COVID-19 Antibody Testing
The test being offered is a blood test that checks for SARS-CoV-2 virus antibodies. This test checks for IGM and IGG antibodies, Antibody tests check for your body’s response to a virus not the virus itself.
A negative test does not mean you do not have SARS-CoV-2 as it may take several days for your body to make antibodies against the virus.
A positive test may indicate you either have SARS-CoV-2 or are recovering from it. A positive IGG test does not mean you are immune. All CDC guidelines (including City, State, and National quarantine and Shelter-in-Place guidelines) must still be followed. You should be aware that ONLY the test is being offered at this time and NOT medical treatment.
If your test is negative and you are still having symptoms or your test is positive, we recommend you follow up with a physician to determine if any medical treatment is needed. You can make an appointment or schedule a Televisit with an Advantage Healthcare Systems provider by calling the number on this form or visiting our website.
Testing limitations
- This test has not been reviewed by the FDA but is being offered under the FDA’s Policy for Diagnostic Tests for Coronavirus Disease – 2019, Section IV.D.
- Negative results do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly in those who have been in contact with the virus. Follow-up testing with a molecular diagnostic should be considered to rule out infection in these individuals.
- Results from antibody testing should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 infection or to inform infection status.
- Early infections may not have generated sufficient antibodies to be positive on the test.
- Currently it is not known if having any IGG antibodies indicates immunity; however, having IGG antibodies does indicate having had the infection.
- Positive results may be due to past or present infection with non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains, such as coronavirus HKU1, NL63, OC43, or 229E.
- There is a 13% false negative rate. (Out of 100 people with the disease up to 13 may falsely test negative.)

COVID-19 PCR Testing
PCR testing is a nasal pharyngeal swab that checks for the DNA of the virus. Once the specimen is obtained, it is sent to a laboratory and can take several days to get the results.
If you are having symptoms or your IGM antibody test is positive, you must self-quarantine for 14 days. Current recommendation is to get a PCR (nasopharyngeal swab) test done if the antibody test is positive or you are having symptoms. This can be done through the clinic or physician of your choice.
If you have worsening symptoms or shortness of breath, you should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
