CARF
CARF, or the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, International, is an independent not-for-profit accreditor of health and human services. CARF’s mission is to create accountability and processes to continually improve the quality of the medical and other services rendered to patients in these fields:
- Aging Services
- Child and Youth Services
- Behavioral Health
- Employment and Community Services
- Medical Rehabilitation
The 7,000 CARF-accredited providers around the world service an estimated 10 million people annually. CARF care providers can be found in North and South America, Asia, Oceania, and Europe.
Why Does CARF Matter?
In an ever-evolving landscape of consumer services, it is more critical than ever to generate resources to help provide consumers with viable options for the important, and often necessary, services that they need for an optimal life. CARF is an unbiased, completely consumer-focused resource that cuts through the murky waters of marketing and inaccuracies.
CARF limits accreditation to businesses and organizations that have shown a proven commitment to quality and customer success. In addition to prior success, CARF seeks to ensure that all of its members are dedicated to making necessary adjustments to their services to account for up-to-date standards and best practices.
A CARF accreditation is a stamp of approval indicating that an entity cares about its reputation and the experience of each and every customer who collaborates with their organization. This approval provides the invaluable peace of mind for consumers around the globe who require critical health, employment, rehabilitation, and/or child care services to improve their quality of life.
What Are the Standards for Accreditation?
Accreditation from CARF can be achieved only by organizations that display a continued emphasis on high-quality service and uniquely catered customer experiences. With only 7,000 accredited providers around the globe, few institutions meet the stringent needs that CARF requires to award its distinguished accreditation. The steps to obtain CARF accreditation are as follows:
- Initial consultation with a CARF resource specialist
- Completion of a self-evaluation
- Submission of a survey application
- Payment of CARF survey fee
- Wait for selection of survey team
- Evaluation of your institution conducted by survey team
- CARF delivers its accreditation decision
- If approved, submission of a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
- Continued submissions of an Annual Conformance to Quality Report (ACQR)
- Maintaining communications with CARF on standards and best practices
